There is no substitute to clinical experience but the following may help supplement your skills and knowledge.

Journals

All the major anaesthetic journals have articles on paediatric anaesthesia. Many of the linked articles below are behind paywalls, however all can be accessed with your Open Athens account or via the access that comes with membership of the RCOA, AAGBI and/or APAGBI. If you don’t have an Open Athens account, your local hospital library will help you set up an account.

Pediatric Anesthesia Journal

Pediatric Anesthesia is published monthly and available via your Open Athens account or directly through the Wiley website to members of the APAGBI.

Special Issues

Occasionally there are special editions devoted to the latest evidence in big topics in paediatric anaesthesia which are full of excellent review articles that are well worth reading. Notably in the not too distant past these include (in reverse chronological order):

Error Traps

There is also a series of articles encouraging a culture of safety by exposing common error traps in the anaesthetic management of paediatric patients. A wide range of topics has been covered and can be found in the Error Traps section of the Pediatric Anesthesia journal website.
